In October 2007, ReL8 received a 5-year Community Based Abstinence Education (CBAE) grant that has taken their successful abstinence program from Madison and St. Clair counties to over 21 counties throughout downstate Illinois.ReL8 is working with 5 partner agencies and Project Reality to educate teens with the Game Plan (grades 6-8) and Navigator (grades 9-12) curricula. These curricula were created as public school abstinence curriculum and therefore meet all Illinois Dept. of Health requirements. Through classroom presentations, parent workshops, events and more - our goal is to influence teens to pursue a lifestyle of saving sex for marriage.
Since 2006, ReL8 has been equipping youth with information and relationship skills needed to make educated, factual, and positive choices for their lives – especially in the area of sexual health. The truth is powerful – abstinence is the only 100% effective way to avoid the risks of sex outside of marriage.
As an educator, you probably want to make sure that having a guest presenter in your classroom is worthwhile. ReL8 is committed to making our experience in your classroom positive and professional. ReL8 educators teach the Project Reality Game Plan and Navigator curricula in grades 6-12. This part of the site is dedicated to giving you information about ReL8, our Class 8 presentations in schools and our curricula. Some important aspects of Class 8 to point out are:
• The curriculum meets all state and federal A-H guidelines for sex education
• The educator and materials for each student are FREE to schools
• All ReL8 educators have been certified as a Primary Level 1 Abstinence Educator by The National Abstinence Clearinghouse (www.abstinence.net)
• The program is flexible and can be implemented into any current health curriculum
• The curriculum is 8 chapters, requiring 8 class periods or at least 30 minutes per chapter to complete the program
• We offer Parent Power Workshops in conjunction with the classroom presentations
